Triple Threat 5
Follow The Money

I know during the political season, people take a lot of what they hear as just political posturing. Not in this case.

I've been warning for weeks about the danger the triple threat, Eddie Simpson, Julia Hurley and Mark Matlock, pose to Loudon County. We've heard it from their own mouths. Now we can see it with our own eyes.

Monday, simultaneously, political mailers showed up in mail boxes in the 2nd, 5th and 6th districts for Hurley, Simpson and Matlock respectively. All three mailers made ridiculous claims, but that's what we've come to be expected from these three. See below.

The bigger issue with these mailers isn't what they say but who paid for them. All three are clearly marked "Paid For by the Building Industry Political Action Committee , Ashley Burnett, Treasurer".

This is a brand new, special interest PAC set up by the Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville, HBAGK. Ashley Burnett is the president of the HBAGK and the treasurer for the Building Industry Political Action Committee. They're not even trying to hide their intentions now. The vultures are circling Loudon County.

If folks didn't believe me before, there's no way to deny it now. Simpson, Hurley and Matlock have sold their souls to the developers. It's absolutely all about the money now. If not, why would the Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville be pouring thousands and thousands of dollars into these three commission races?

This election is no longer just about one candidate beating another candidate. It's now about saving the heart and soul of Loudon County. Clearly we can see where Simpson, Hurley and Matlock's loyalties lie. Obviously, special interests have a firm grip on these three. What promises have been made?

I implore you folks to spread the word on these three candidates. Contact all your friends and families in the 2nd, 5th and 6th districts. Warn them about what's going on. Share this information. Voters have got to know the truth and what they have in mind for Loudon County. We have to stop this before it's too late.

If Loudon County falls to the developers, there's no where else to go.

I'm sorry, Mr. Simpson is certainly no conservative. He has voted for every tax increase a city councilman can vote for including the Rain Tax that hits every family and business. He has voted for gun control and voted to approve over 2,500 new residential units in Lenoir city, mostly apartments, in the last year or so. If he considers that "controlled growth, What on earth does he consider uncontrolled growth.

Just say anything, true or not.

Ms. Hurley again just down right lies. She says Loudon County commission took thousands of dollars from Lenoir City schools and put it in the Loudon County budget. Loudon County commission did not take a dime from Lenoir City schools and put it in the Loudon County budget. Loudon County commission moved 2.5% of the Adequate Facilities Tax, AFT, from the Lenoir City school system and transferred it to Loudon County school system. Loudon County still voluntarily donates 12.5% of the AFT to Lenoir City schools. Maybe if she hadn't missed more than half of the commission meetings, she would better understand the process.

She has vowed to take money away from the Loudon County schools and give it to Lenoir City schools.

Just say anything, true or not.

Matlock's mailer is still the same gibberish he's been from the beginning. Making big promises and claims of what he will do with no understanding at all what he's talking about. Just like the other two, he's running to represent the special interests. He doesn't have a clue. But he could at least pay his back property taxes.

Just say anything, true or not.
