Total Disaster 13

The old town section of Lenoir City will not escape city officials ongoing quest to destroy their city.

Last Tuesday, the Lenoir City Planning Commission approved Turner Development's plat for 43 new residential units in the 10th and 7th avenue area. The development will be 27 single family units and 16 townhomes. The 16 townhomes will be grouped in two and three unit, zero lot lines. The plat only shows one entrance/exit to the development on 8th Avenue/Oakwood Drive.

Lenoir City councilman, Eddie Simpson, who also serves on the planning commission said he loved to see this development.

Just before approving the zero lot line townhomes, the same board denied a citizen's request to reduce his lot line to 11' for an addition to his house. So the citizen is denied a small lot line setback variance, but a developer is permitted a zero lot line variance.

43 more units in that area will surely add a lot of traffic in an already heavily raveled area.
