More Housing, More Housing, More Roof Tops

Lenoir City Council Meeting 9/14/2020

Back in September of 2020, the Lenoir City council was in the process of approving a 20 year PILOT, Payment In Lieu of Taxes, for the Bell West development. Council member, Jennifer Wampler, was the first to go into praising "more roof tops" it's what the city needs and it will be great for tax revenue eventually too, she said. Obviously, Ms. Wampler has no understanding of what all the residential development is going to do to schools, infrastructure, city and county services.

Mayor Tony Aikens went next with praising "More Housing, More Housing, More Roof Tops". Like Wampler, Aikens must also struggle with reality when it comes to mass over development.

Both Aikens and Wampler were heaping their praise on Jack Qualls, chairman of the EDA, Loudon County Economic Development Agency. According to Aikens and Wampler, Mr. Qualls is the one responsible for bringing so many roof tops into the city.

I dare say, most of you have no idea who Jack Qualls is, but it may be time to learn about him, shortly. Apparently, and according to Aikens and Wampler, Qualls is the one who has convinced those two, at least.

Obviously, the mayor and others have relinquished any common since to residential development, in the city, to the advice of a gentleman who doesn't even live in Loudon County. More later.

We're all going to pay a steep, irreversible price for the mayor and council's reckless and irresponsible planning policies, now we find out they're taking advice from a man who doesn't have to live in the mess he's recommending?

When did the mayor and others give up all ability for independent thought?

Just so I'm never accused of telling half truths and out and out lies, below is the video if that portion of the meeting.
