Teenage runaway from Tennessee picked up in stolen car in Baker County

A teenage runaway from Tennessee was picked up by the Florida Highway Patrol in a stolen car in Baker County Tuesday morning.

The 13-year-old was the passenger in a car that was speeding on Interstate 10 about 10:30 a.m., according to a news release.

A deputy stopped the car, checked the plates and came back with some interesting results. The car was stolen from Lenoir City, Tenn. And the passenger was a 13-year-old girl who had run away from home. Her name was withheld.

The driver, 18-year-old Christopher D. Bounds, has charges pending in Tennessee involving the girl, authorities said.

The girl was taken to a shelter to wait for her parents. Bounds will be extradited back to Tennessee.
