Teen charged with possession, DWI

A teen and two men from Knoxville are facing multiple charges after deputies pulled over a vehicle for crossing the yellow lines early Saturday morning.

Spotting a car with its high beams on coming toward his cruiser along Martel Road, Loudon County Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Ketner followed the 2010 silver Volkswagen Jetta to Beals Chapel Road, where the driver swerved on the road “several times,” Ketner wrote in the arrest report.

Stopping the vehicle at Parris Road and Beals Chapel, Ketner smelled alcohol coming from the car, according to the arrest report.

The driver, Colton A. Warner, 19, Knoxville, had “bloodshot eyes and was very lethargic,” according to Ketner.

Warner told the deputy that he, along with passengers William Patrick Jones, 20, Knoxville, and Tucker Graham Bowles, 20, Knoxville, were coming from “The Strip” in Knoxville and “got lost looking for an address.” Ketner noted in his report that Jones and Bowles were also intoxicated.

Warner performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and Bowles vomited on himself during the police stop, according to Ketner.

“The vehicle belongs to Mr. Jones and Mr. Jones did have prior knowledge that Mr. Warner did consume alcohol and/or marijuana and still allowed him to drive,” Ketner wrote.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found about 3 grams of “wax” marijuana, a grinder, a smoking device and 10-40 mg Vyvanse capsules in a fanny pack. Warner told police that the items in the bag belonged to him.

Warner was charged with manufacture/sell/delivery/resale of a Schedule II substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession/casual exchange, underage driving while intoxicated and cite-in and released on $38,000 bond.

Jones was charged with underage consumption and driving under the influence by consent and released on $6,000 bond.
