Teen attempts escape following arrest

A Lenoir City teenager escaped a police vehicle and briefly evaded officers Friday morning after being arrested on drug charges.
Lenoir City Police Officer Christopher Law was dispatched to Walmart in reference to an unwanted guest. He found Braydon James Corley, 18, shirtless and passed out in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle.
Law had to wake Corley. When conscious, Corley seemed confused, was sweating profusely and had white foam around his mouth. In plain view in the vehicle, Law noticed a small black container with THC printed on the label and containing 73 Oxycodone pills.
Law administered a field sobriety test and Corley performed poorly. He was placed under arrest and read Tennessee Implied Consent, which he refused. After being placed in the back of Law’s car, he tried to get out while another officer was standing at the door.
While en route to the jail, Corley said he needed to throw up. Law pulled over, rolled down a window and observed Corley leaning his head out trying to vomit. Once Law realized Corley was simply spitting, Law went back to the driver’s side of the car to roll up the window.
Because he had been sweating heavily the entire time, Corley was able to slip off his handcuffs and fell face first out the window, causing a slight cut to his forehead. He then got up and ran away as Law yelled for him to stop.
Corley stopped when he ran into a wooden stick hanging off a gasoline tanker and Law subsequently tackled him to the ground. Law gave him verbal commands to submit but Corley kept resisting, and the truck driver attempted to help hold Corley down.
Additional officers showed up and helped Law gain control of Corley. He was again placed in handcuffs and, following a quick EMS check on the cut to his forehead, was transported to Loudon County Jail.
Corley was charged with driving under the influence, escape, manufacture, sell, delivery, resale of a Schedule II substance, resisting arrest and violation of implied consent and held on $19,500 bond.
