Tax Increase?

At the May 16th county commission workshop, the Loudon County Corrections Partnership Committee, Jail Committee, will be presenting their proposal for one of the jail plans. Looks like they will be proposing a new 31 million dollar plus plan for an all new facility to locate off Hwy. 72 in the Center 75 Industrial park.

Over the last two years, the committee has developed plans for everything from ten million dollars up to forty-seven million dollars all in an effort to alleviate jail overcrowding.

Any of the discussed plans would require a property tax increase from five cents up to twenty cents.

Loudon County Corrections Partnership Committee, Jail Committee, is made up of Sheriff Tim Guider, Judge Rex Dale, Court Clerk Lisa Niles, Attorney General Russell Johnson, Commissioners Leo Bradshaw, Henry Cullen, Bill Satterfield and Mayor Buddy Bradshaw.

If you have any concerns about a property tax increase, you should attend this meeting or contact your county commissioner. The workshop will be held at the Court House Annex on May 16th at 6:00.
