Suspended license leads to theft charge

A Loudon man was arrested June 16 on various charges after an officer saw him driving and knew his license was suspended.
Lenoir City Police Officer Riley Miller saw Franklin Harrison Major, 38, driving in front of a business off Mitchell Lane and conducted a traffic stop. Miller ran the license plates on the white Nissan Maxima that Major was driving and was told the plates belonged to a white Pontiac sedan.
Miller had Major step out of the car to talk about the registration and license status. Major said the vehicle was his. Miller wrote in a report that Major appeared nervous and fidgety.

During a search of the vehicle, Miller found three glass pipes, two needles and handicap placard that belonged to someone else and expired in 2020. The placard had been altered to show a 2021 expiration, according to a report.

Miller’s search also yielded 2.4 grams of methamphetamine, a third glass pipe, a digital scale, a “slim jim” used to break into cars, a Dewalt Sawzall, a metal Y-shaped tool used to start cars, five walkie talkies and a catalytic converter, which Major admitted to cutting off a Buick sedan earlier in the day. Major told Miller he cuts catalytic converters for a job.

Major was charged with possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth and display of registration plate and held on $24,000 bond.

Woman jailed for public intoxication

A Loudon woman was arrested June 16 for public intoxication after talking with officers.

Loudon Police Officer Kamron Kelley was on routine patrol driving across the Congressman John J. Duncan Jr. Loudon County Veterans Memorial Bridge when he saw a woman sprawled on the sidewalk. The woman was later identified as Brooke Ann Kiser, 30.

Kiser told Kelley she was “just walking around” and “trying to get away from the Texas chainsaw massacre, which was hanging out across the bridge,” Kelley wrote in a report.

During Kelley’s conversation with Kiser, she was struggling to stay on topic. Kelley also saw Kiser’s eyes were dilated and she seemed to be under the influence of a narcotic. Kelley deemed Kiser a harm to herself and the public.

Kiser was charged with public intoxication and released without bond.
