Six arrested in task force drug bust

Four Lenoir City and two Loudon residents are facing drug charges after law enforcement conducted a narcotics investigation.
As representatives of the 9th Judicial Drug Task Force, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir City Police Department confronted Misty Pearl Lewis, Tracey Rene Smiddy and Rachel Russell at a local motel, two of them attempted to destroy evidence in the bathroom.

“While agents were detaining these females they observed loaded hypodermic needles as well as a bag of suspected methamphetamine on the bed next to where Misty Lewis was sitting,” Brendan DeBoer, DTF agent, wrote in his report. “Rachel Russell, who ran to the bathroom with a hypodermic needle in her hand, was found to have two bags of suspected methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 2 grams. She was also found to possess on her person two different types of Schedule II amphetamine pills, eight total.

Agents found a 3-year-old child in the room at the time of the incident. A search through the room found burnt spoons, hypodermic needles, rolling papers, a digital scale and plastic bags for drug distribution, according to the report. A purse belonging to Russell had an unknown substance and a small bag of marijuana. Smiddy's purse had 1 1/2 suboxone pills, a glass methamphetamine pipe and a loaded syringe.

Agents also saw Jody Dean Townson leave the same motel and travel next door in a small blue sport utility vehicle driven by Justin Danny Kelley. The two pulled up beside a white Chevrolet pickup truck in a local fast food restaurant parking lot.

“After approximately one and a half minutes, Townson exited and was observed by agents,” DeBoer wrote in separate report. “The pickup was recognized by agents as one used in a robbery two nights earlier and, due to the circumstances of the meeting and recognizing it as a drug transaction, agents made contact with the occupants. When contact was made with these individuals, agents observed the driver of the pickup exit and she appeared to be concealing something in her pants.”

Kristi Michelle Wright was found in the pickup.

Agents observed methamphetamine inside the SUV and found a small bag with less than 1/2 a gram methamphetamine in a cigarette pack inside the truck and a small bag of methamphetamine containing more than 1 gram was retrieved from Wright’s pants.
Kelley had three bags of methamphetamine upon arrival at the jail, one of which was in his anal cavity.
