Sex Discrimination

Loudon County 911 Director, Jennifer White, has filed a federal sex discrimination lawsuit against the Knox County Emergency Communications District (Knox County 911).

According to the lawsuit, Ms. White applied for the director position with Knox County 911 but was not hired in August 2019. The suit claims that Knox County 911 hired a less qualified male, Brad Anders, rather than a highly qualified female, Ms. White.

The lawsuit asks for a jury trial.

Though no specific dollar amount was noted in the suit, Ms. White is asking:

F. For an award of actual, compensatory, consequential, incidental, pecuniary, and other damages according to proof which will make Mrs. White whole, including but not limited to, lost wages from the date of failure to hire and incorporating the anticipated raises Mrs. White would have received had she been hired, lost benefits, out of pocket expenses, emotional and mental distress, pain, suffering, anguish, stress, humiliation, embarrassment, loss of reputation, inconvenience, and loss of enjoyment of life;

G. For Mrs. White to be awarded front pay;

H. For an award of pre- and post-judgment interest, reasonable attorneys’ fees, expert witness fees, and costs;

I. For an award of punitive damages as allowed by law;

J. For other appropriate legal, equitable, and further relief which the Court deems just and proper
