Four people were injured in a two-vehicle car accident Monday in Loudon County, officials said. “It was the worst wreck we’d had in a long time,” Greenback Fire Chief Ronnie Lett said Tuesday.

The accident happened at about 3:32 p.m. Monday on Highway 95, and one person was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Lett said. “It’s our understanding she is in surgery right now,” he said.

Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol worked the accident, with help from Greenback firefighters and emergency workers with Rural/Metro Ambulance Service.

Troopers couldn’t be reached Tuesday for more information, but Lett said three other people were taken to area hospitals — two to Blount Memorial and one to UT Medical Center.

Note: Three of the injured were reportedly students from Greenback School.
