Sequoyah football coach and athletic director Bill Satterfield has been elected as a Class of 2013 inductee into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame.

His career zenith came near the Blount-Loudon county border as head coach of Greenback, where his Cherokees won the Class A state championship in 1987.

Satterfield, who is entering his sixth year as the Chiefs' coach, has amassed a career 214-110 record as of the end of the 2012 season. He started his career at Lenoir City in 1971. He coached at Vonore before coming over to Greenback. He had also coached at Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville before settling in Madisonville.

Under Satterfield, the Chiefs have made the TSSAA playoffs the last two seasons. The 2011 season, which included a first-round playoff win, was the first non-losing season for Sequoyah since 2003. The Chiefs' 6-5 campaign in 2012 was their first winning record since that point.

Sequoyah had gone 16-54 from 2004-2010, with Satterfield's 20-34 record with the Chiefs reflecting the rebuilding seasons starting in 2008, when he was hired.

The Induction Banquet for the 2013 class will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Airport Hilton in Alcoa.
