Rezone Fails

The controversial rezone over in the Glendale community was denied at Tuesday's commission meeting.

John Cook, of Cook Brothers Construction, had requested a rezone from A-1 to R-1 with a Planned Unit Development, PUD, overlay. The rezone would have allowed Cook to construct up to 196 homes on the 78 acre parcel. Many members of the community turned out to oppose the rezone.

Ultimately, with Commissioner Bill Satterfield's support and after a lot of confusion in the voting process, the rezone request was denied.

Cook has stated that he may take legal action against the county for the denial.
