Campaign Kick Off
Re-elect Tony?

The next Lenoir City election will be November 5, 2024 and even though that's nearly fourteen months away, Lenoir City Mayor Tony Aikens is already kicking off his re-election campaign.

Apparently, last week, various members of Loudon County and Knox County received invitations to the mayor's campaign kick off, meaning campaign contributions, for the upcoming campaign. Oddly, not a single person listed on his campaign kick off card as host committee, lives in Lenoir City and can't even vote for him. That seems strange. On top of that, he's holding the kick off in Farragut/Knox County in a bank. When was the last time a candidate for any elective office kicked off a campaign with no constituents and out of his elected jurisdiction? I guess the money pit Venue was too expensive.

How much does the mayor think his re-election is going to cost that he, with all his money, needs contributions from outsiders to run his campaign. Talk about dark money.

I was thinking about making a big fat contribution but since I didn't get an invitation, I'll just keep my money.

Of course, the mayor currently has his lake house on the market for sale for $1,890,000. If he can close that deal, he stands to make a quick $940,000.00. Maybe then he wouldn't have to be out begging for campaign contributions.

I could be wrong.
