Redistrict 3

Tomorrow night, 9/30, the Loudon County redistricting committee will be meeting, hopefully for the last time.

Every ten years after the census is conducted, county's are required to redistrict the commission districts if the population has shifted in around the districts. Each commissioner is required to represent a substantially equal number of residents. Fortunately, while the county has grown, it has grown proportionally around the county which will require minimal changes. Small adjustments will be made in the 1st, 4th and 7th districts. Another small adjustment will be made in the 2nd and 5th districts. The plan is called Plan C. There are other plans but plan C is the least disruptive.

The idea in redistricting is to equal out the district populations and move as few residents as possible to achieve that goal. Plan C does just that.

The meeting begins at 4:30 at the Annex.
