Rationalists Or Nuts
You Decide

The Ledendeckers

I just had to go down to the Lenoir City Council meeting Monday night to see the atheists show. It actually turned out to be a real nothing and I mean nothing. Her statement literally meant nothing.

Here is the text of her...what ever you would call it.

As I solemnize these proceedings, I want to acknowledge the service of the council members and share appreciation for their willingness to be a part of the governmental process. We owe a debt of gratitude to those who take on the burden of service.

Now, let us not bow our heads, but hold them high with eyes open.

I urge members of the City Council to face the future with full recognition of their responsibilities to all the citizens of Lenoir City. I urge you to maintain our trust that you will recognize and serve equally the growing diversity of your constituents with favoritism toward none.

Consider the words of Pericles, the great leader of Athens, the cradle of democracy, who said.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

It was essentially what you might expect from those who believe they and government are the be all and end all and God doesn't exist. She used the usual dog whistle words of the left wingers like tolerance and diversity. Two local pastors also offered traditional Christian invocations after the atheists were done.

The truth is, these anti God folks don't really care about wanting to participate in meeting invocations, it's just their way to try to eliminate Christian over tones from government. Their hope is that little, local governments will be so fearful of violating someone's rights and being faced with expensive law suits, they'll just decide to strike anything that might be perceived Christian from government activities.

Ever wonder why anti God folks can't just live their lives and let those of us who believe, live ours? As long as there continues to be Christian morels and values, there will always be a black and white line between good and evil and that's unacceptable to nonbelievers.

But what I've never understood is, if someone really and truly doesn't believe there is a God or any higher power, why does it bother them so bad if others do? If God and Jesus and all the Bible stuff is just made up, then why do they fear it so much?

Personally, I don't really believe there are any atheists. I think down deep inside they're just hoping there's no God and there wont be an afterlife. Boy, are they going to be surprised.
