Rain Tax Budget

Below is the 2018-2019 Rain Tax budget. This will be the second year of the tax. As you can see, the city hit the jack pot with this one. Out of thin air, or more appropriately, out of rain water, the city brought in more than a half million dollars where there was nothing before.

Fortunately, the law says this money from the Rain Tax can only be used for storm water and flood control. Unfortunately, city officials figured out how to spend the money without having to do any storm water and flood control work. They just moved much of their street department employees and expenses into the Rain Tax budget and that lets them redirect the money from the street department to what ever they want to do with it like maybe a Fleet Coordinator? And that's just what they did.

But the scariest part is, the council can increase the Rain Tax any time they want to, and don't think they won't do it. Especially when the sales tax increase fails.

Passage of the Rain Tax had to be the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the residents, businesses, schools, churches and nonprofits in the city. And contrary to what anyone says, it was not mandated by any other government agency, the tax collected does not go to the EPA and the city council is 100% responsible for the Rain Tax.
