SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR

Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider announced the arrest of Mr. Bobby Dotson, age 59, of 4275 Sinking Creek Road, Greenback, TN, for sexual exploitation of a minor (TCA Code 39-17-1003). Sheriff Guider advised that the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) executed a search of the home of Mr. Dotson on Wednesday, January 13th at approximately 10:30 AM, after investigators developed information from a confidential source that Mr. Dotson was in possession of child pornography.

Upon investigators entering the residence, possible evidence of child pornography could be seen by investigators immediately. Upon search of the residence, Mr. Dotson’s computer and several other items were seized as evidence. Mr. Dotson admitted that he has been involved in child pornography and Sheriff Guider confirmed that Mr. Dotson is on the sex offender registry as a violent offender. Mr. Dotson was convicted in 2000 for especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a child and had completed eight (8) years of prison time on February 25, 2008. The sheriff advises that other counts or charges are pending.

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Department is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, as is the Blount County Sheriff’s Department, which assisted in the investigation, and Sheriff Guider would like to thank them for their assistance.

Sheriff Guider would also like to take this time to remind parents to please check their children’s computers whenever possible.
