Planning Ahead?

Why in the world would anyone be talking about the possibility of building a new school on the East end of the county? Planning ahead maybe?

There's a lot of discussion about residential development in Loudon County, especially in Lenoir City where officials have opened their borders to any and all developments regardless of how negatively it will impact the city, county and the school systems.

Below is a map of some of the developments currently approved or under construction on the East end of the county.

All the developments on the left are in Lenoir City. All the developments on the right are in the county.

All these developments equal 1,830 new residential units, 1,526 in the city and 304 in the county. Every thing from high end luxury homes to mid range homes to affordable homes to low to moderate income rental apartments.

There is not 1,830 Loudon County residents looking for housing. These developments will bring hundreds of new families, with children, into Loudon County. Somebody's going to have to educate all those new children.

Loudon County's population grew by 6,330 from 2010 to 2020. These fourteen developments could bring more than half that number of new people in a year.

As I said earlier, all these developments are either under construction or have received approval from various government agencies, 9 are already under construction. These developments are absolutely going to impact everything on the east end of the county especially the schools.
