| Below are the updated petition information for the
May primary election and The August primary/general election.
There are two new candidates for the May primary. 1st
district resident, Bobby Joe Newman, has picked up a qualifying petition
for 1st district seat (A) county commission seat. 5th district resident,
Pat Hunter, has picked up a qualifying petition for seat (A) county
commission seat.
30 candidates have already qualified to run for office
in the may election. 10 candidates have picked up petitions but not yet
returned their petitions to qualify to run for office. This is not
uncommon. Some folks just get cold feet and some never intended to run
at all.
As of now, we have 8 contested races and 13
uncontested races. Candidates for the May 3rd primary have till 12;00
none on February 17th to qualify.

Incumbent Lowell Russell has picked up for 21st district
representative. Loudon County resident, Dr. Jan Hahn, has picked up to
run as a democrat to challenge incumbent, Kent Calfee.
District Attorney, Russell Johnson picked up.
Lenoir City city attorney, Gregory Harrison, has picked up to run for
Lenoir City judge. Harrison does not live in the city.
Two candidates have picked up to run for Lenoir City School Board.
Bobby Johnson Jr. and Monty Ross.
Candidates for the August election have until April 7th to qualify.
