Pedestrian injured in crash on I-40 West near Loudon/Knox county line
 

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office investigate a pedestrian-involved crash on I-40 West near the Loudon/Knox county line.

The report said a pedestrian suddenly stepped into the roadway and was struck by a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer. After the impact, the vehicle was brought to a stop in the roadway.
 
The pedestrian was reported to be injured. However, the incident proved to be non-fatal.
 
The crash was reported on the TDOT Smartway map at 7:56 a.m. On the map, traffic was seen backed up to Campbell Station Road.
 
The public was told to be aware of delays in the area as crews worked to clear the scene. LCSO said to use alternate routes if possible.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating after a person was hit by a car on I-40 near Watt Road, officials with THP told WVLT News Thursday.

The crash happened Thursday morning. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, two lanes of traffic had to be closed on I-40 West for responders.

In a later update, THP officials identified the pedestrian as Kevin Barth, 45. According to a preliminary report from THP, Barth walked onto I-40, stepping into a lane of traffic and was hit.

Barth was taken to a local hospital, THP said.
