Pedestrian incident in Loudon County claims life

 LOUDON (WATE) - A 41-year-old man was struck and killed by a car late Sunday afternoon in Loudon County. 

Jimmy J. Smith of Murfreesboro, Tennessee was walking northbound on Tellico Parkway when Joan D. Ek, 83, pulled out of  Food Lion. Ek failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and hit the Smith on the right shoulder of the roadway. 

Reports show Ek suffered no injuries and was sober at the time of the incident. 

Criminal charges against her are still pending. Ek received a citation for failure to maintain in her lane.
