One Year Ago

May 3rd will be the one year anniversary of the 2022 Loudon County primary election. There was so much at stake in that election. We had those, like the triple threat above and others, who had vowed to destroy Loudon County with unchecked, residential development, if they were elected. Fortunately, the voters of Loudon County decided clearly and overwhelmingly that that wasn't what they wanted for our county. As a Loudon County resident, and commissioner, I'm happy the voters stopped the takeover of the county by, paid for politicians, and special interest groups.

Since that election, Loudon County commission has taken major steps to implement controlled, managed development to the county that the voters said they wanted.

Such as,

  • Residential building lots must be a minimum of one half acre.
  • A duplex must have a minimum of one acre and must have public sewer and water to be permitted.
  • Multi-family, apartments, condos, townhomes, must have a minimum of one half acre per living unit and must have public sewer and water to be permitted.
  • Filed a lawsuit against Lenoir City for illegal annexations that could have allowed hundreds of jammed up houses and apartments.

Just the three simple changes to our zoning policy alone will help preserve our rural lands and prevent the kind of over development we've seen pop up all over Lenoir City and West Knox County. The commission will be taking other steps to further manage development.

Again whether I was in office or not, I would be opposed to the wholesale destruction of the county. I thank the voters who said enough is enough.
