No Tax Increase

The Loudon County commission budget committee has completed their budget process and will be presenting for consideration to the full commission on June 2nd.

Some highlights of the proposed budget:

  • No property tax increase
  • $1,000.00 raise for all full time employees, (Not Elected Officials) 2% for all part time employees
  • $330,000.00 increase in funding to the Board Of Education
  • Six new employees in various departments
  • No layoffs or cuts to any services
  • 5 New sheriff's patrol vehicles
  • Recommends the new certified property tax rate, $1.5166 +/-

This will be fourteen years without a property tax increase for general fund operations. This is possible due to very conservative, fiscal management and steady growth in the county.

The county general fund and other operations budgets are approximately $24,000,000.00. The Highway department budget is more than $5,000,000.00. The Board Of Education budget is now nearly $54,000,000.00. All budgets combined for around $83,000,000.00.

The proposed budget will be presented to the full commission for discussion at the June 2nd workshop. The final adoption is scheduled for June 29th. While the budget committee is recommending no property tax increase, it will still be up to the full commission vote on the 29th.
