News Herald Arrest Report

Couple’s argument ends in felony charge

A Loudon man is facing a domestic assault charge after a Loudon County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded Dec. 2 to a call of a potential armed suspect.

Dispatched to the 300 block of Yates Lane, LCSO Deputy Kenny Palmer talked with a woman who said Michael Eugene Pack, 37, Loudon, attacked her after arguing for a “couple of days.”

“(The woman) stated he came into the bedroom and start saying she was cheating on him,” Palmer wrote in his report. “... (The woman) stated that he then put his hands around her neck and started strangling her.” The woman said she called her mother, who then called 911. Pack also punched holes in walls before going outside and throwing something to break a window, according to the report.

Pack was later found. He said he and the woman argued but “that’s as far as it went,” and he did admit punching a hole in the wall.

“Mr. Pack stated that he may have put a hole in the wall while he was trying to keep her out of the room,” Palmer wrote. “Mr. Pack stated he hit a rock trying to put it back in the pile and the root flew out of his hands and hit the window by accident.”

While speaking to the woman, Palmer did see red marks around her neck consistent with strangling, according to the report.

Pack was charged with domestic assault-felony and released on $3,000 bond.

Knoxville man charged

A Knoxville man is facing drug charges after a Lenoir City police officer found him asleep in a local restaurant.

Dispatched to a restaurant on U.S. Highway 321, Sgt. Jeremy Dishner was made aware of a man sleeping in the building. Dishner noted in his report that Shawn Patrick Miller, 31, Knoxville, had difficulty responding to “basic questions and appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic.”

Dishner located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine during a pat-down search, according to the report. The item was found in Miller's back pants pocket. Dishner also searched Miller’s backpack, where he found a Gotham metal lunch box.

“Inside the lunch box was numerous needles, spoons and straws used by the defendant for the purpose of snorting or injecting of narcotics,” Dishner wrote in his report. “I also located two, small bags with a crystal-like substance that Mr. Miller advised was methamphetamine (approximately 1 1/2 grams each).” Dishner also found three digital scales, which had white residue believed to be meth.

Miller told Dishner he had smoked meth “several hours” prior to their encounter.

Miller was charged with manufacture, sell, delivery and resale of a Schedule II substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication and held on $23,000 bond.
