New School 4

One of the topics of interest, pertaining to the proposed new school, is traffic. Absolutely, there will be more traffic in the area if the school is built. However, the chosen location is situated to better dissipate traffic than any campus in the county school system as you can see from the map above.

There are some who continue to claim there will be no access to Hwy 11 from the new school. That's absolutely not true. There will be a new road that runs from Hwy. 11 to Simpson Road.

Looking at the map, you can see, as traffic leaves the school on the new road, it can turn right or left. If turning right, traffic will access Hwy 11 where they can turn left or right.

If turning left, traffic can access Simpson Road where they can turn left or right. If turning right, traffic will have access to Shaw Ferry Road where they can again turn left or right.

If turning left on Simpson Road, traffic turn right on to Ruby Lane or Abby Drive to Hwy 321 or continue on Simpson Road to Hwy 321 or turn left into the Tractor Supply shopping center and again access Hwy 321.

For entering the new school. simply reverse the exit possibilities.

This is one of the benefits of this location for the proposed school.

In addition to all the points of entrance and exits, there will be more than three quarters of a mile of interior streets for stacking traffic without being on Hwy 11 or Simpson Road.

While there will be additional traffic from the new school, at certain times of the day, and for certain times of the year, the school traffic will be far less compared to what it would have been with 400 apartments that had previously been planned for the property.

Hopefully, this gives a little more clarity on the traffic plan.

Oh, and by the way, contrary to what some are claiming, there will be room on the proposed site for additional growth when/if it's ever needed.
