New bridge on schedule$70 million Fort Loudoun Bridge relocation 25 percent complete
thedailytimes.com-LENOIR CITY — Work on the $69.3 million, 1.5-mile Fort Loudoun Bridge relocation project is 25.4 percent complete with the completion date estimated at June 14, 2016. The bridge is being relocated and widened to four lanes downstream of the two-lane J. Carmichael Greer Bridge, built in 1969 on top of Fort Loudoun Dam.
The contractor was awarded June 15, 2012, to Charles Blalock
and Sons of Sevierville.
West Lamar Alexander Parkway will be widened to a four-lane
highway from downtown Lenoir City to east of the Tellico
Canal.
When this is complete, Lamar Alexander Parkway will be four
lanes from Interstate 40 through Maryville to the two-lane
section at Walland.
