Mr. Murrill was a long time Lenoir City teacher.


Mr. Murrill Passes

William Howard Murrill, age 89 of Lenoir City, was born August 23, 1933, Lexington, KY, and passed away February 22, 2023, at his home in Lenoir City, from complications from Covid and diabetes.

He was a graduate of West High School, Nashville, TN and MTSU, Mufreesboro, TN. Howard taught 32 years in the Lenoir City School System. He loved to travel, enjoying all 50 states, 39 cruises, and tours of London, Paris, and Southern Italy. Howard was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Cushman Club and an honorary member of the Cushman Club in Argentina.

Preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Meredith Murrill, and sister, Maxine Shramm Powell. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Willette Murrill; children: Ed Murrill (Susan), Julie Greene (Dennis), Laura Mendiola (Erick), and Sam Murrill (DeAnna); grandchildren: Lauren Melde (Chris), Matthew Murrill (Harsimer), Chris Murrill (Katia), Victoria Mendiola, and Alex Mendiola; sister, Meredith McCulloch of Bedford, MA along with many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 24th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Click officiating. Family and friends gathered at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Carpenter’s Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3538 Best Road, Maryville, TN for graveside services with Rev. Harry P. Anderson officiating.
