Miller To Retire
Loudon
County Trustee, George Miller, will retire at the end of the year.
Miller submitted his resignation to the county mayor and county
commission Monday citing upcoming surgeries.
The office of County Trustee is a very important part of county government and the official in charge needs to be able to give the job their full attention he said. Miller felt that he might not be able to fulfill the important responsibilities of the office while dealing with his medical needs. His resignation will be effective as of January 1, 2013. Mr. Miller served as County Mayor for twenty years prior to his retirement in 2006. Miller was elected to the Trustee position in 2010. It will now fall to county commission to make an appointment to fill out the remainder of Miller's unexpired term. Under the law, the commission is required to fill the position at their next regularly scheduled meeting. That meeting will be January 7th. At least one name has been discussed to fill the term. Chip Miller, son of current Trustee, George Miller, has been mentioned as a possible replacement to take the interim position till the next election which will be in early 2014. Chip Miller is a Senior Commercial advisor with Corner Stone Reality Association and the current chairman of the Loudon County Chamber Of Commerce. |
