Campbell, won a relatively close contest to be the county assessor
Tuesday. Campbell won with 44.54% of the vote or 2,926 votes. Close behind Campbell was Larry Brown. Brown finished with 38.76% of the vote or 2,546 votes. Finishing in third place was Leslie Johnson with 16.70% of the vote or 1,097 votes. The race between to two top vote getters was close for a county wide race. A total of 6,569 cast ballots in the assessor race with only 380 votes separating the top two. Brown carried 8 of the 14 precincts. Browder, Davis, Eaton, Glendale, Greenback, Lenoir City outside and inside and Philadelphia. Campbell carried Highland Park, Loudon inside and outside, Luttrell and both Tellico Village precincts.
