Matlock Case Delayed

A hearing was held in Chancery Court Monday on the lawsuit brought against mark Matlock by Loudon County. Matlock's attorney was asking that Matlock himself be removed from the suit. Their argument was that since he had put his private residence in an LLC, he personally should be dismissed from the suit. Ultimately, the judge denied the request.

The second portion of the hearing was an agreement that the parties would enter mediation. That request was approved. It is unknown why the county attorney would have agreed with this request.

Matlock has been in violation of county zoning regulations since November 2018 when he built his pool house on his neighbor's property line violating setback laws. Matlock promised for two years that he would correct the issue, but never did. Ultimately, the county was forced to file suit against Matlock for the ongoing violation. The case was set to be heard on the 17th but is now delayed due to the mediation.

You may remember that Mark Matlock is running for county commission. I can only assume he thinks if he can get elected, he might be able to get the lawsuit to go away. Matlock has been in violation for more than 1,100 days and is facing a fine of $5-$50 per day or $5,500.00 to $55,000.00.
