| Maryville woman charged with
arson A Maryville woman is facing an aggravated arson charge after law enforcement was dispatched Jan. 1 to a possible structure fire on Meadow Road West. Loudon County Sheriffs Office Deputy Charles Huskin arrived on scene to see a 50-foot by 30-foot building on fire with several explosions occurring, according to the report. Huskin talked with the owner at 3 p.m., who at the time appeared upset and said Debra Ebersole, 58, had been making threats to kill him and burn his house. Huskin noted in his report the building had no power. I then checked the times and it was learned that Mrs. Debra Ebersole made the phone call at 2:07 p.m., Huskin wrote in his report. The time the fire called in was at 2:34 p.m." State Fire Marshals Office Inv. Jason Poore arrived on the scene and concluded the fire was arson. The fire origin was at or around a truck located in the building, Huskin wrote. Upon completing the scene it was also learned that a (fireman) of Greenback Fire was injured by a piece of metal that fell from the garage. He received a cut on his left hand and had to be taken to UT hospital for treatment. A gas can was found in the back of Ebersoles truck that had a strong odor of gas, according to the report. Ebersole was taken into custody Jan. 4.
Ebersole was charged with
aggravated arson and harassment
and held on $102,000 bond.
