A Maryville man who drowned in Tellico Lake in Lenoir City
Friday night has been identified as 67-year-old Kenneth Henry
Owens.
Owens fell from a houseboat near Tellico Dam Friday night and
drowned before he could swim to the shore, the Tennessee
Wildlife Resources Agency said in a news release.
Loudon County E-911 were notified of the incident at 7:42 p.m.
Owens fell near the port bow of the houseboat and, according to
a witness, he began swimming toward the shore, but went under
the water and never resurfaced.
The Loudon County Dive and Rescue Squad recovered Owens' body
about 40 yards off the shoreline at around 9:25 p.m.
