A Maryville man was killed Monday night when his car left a roadway
in Loudon County and struck a tree.
Christopher J. Smiley, 21, was
driving a 1996 Honda Accord northbound on state Highway 95 in
Greenback when he crashed, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol
Trooper Samuel Holcomb.
Smiley was driving at a high rate of speed when he failed to
negotiate a curve near the intersection of Tennessee Avenue about
10:40 p.m., Holcomb wrote in a report.
The Honda veered off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
Smiley was wearing a safety belt. Routine alcohol and drug tests
were requested.
