LENOIR CITY — A Maryville man was arrested after he was
allegedly caught on a security camera burglarizing a safe
and stealing nearly $2,000 from his former employer.
Jarrod Wayne Randolph, 31, Thornhill Drive, was charged with
burglary and theft over $500 by Lenoir City police Monday.
According to the warrants, just before 6 a.m. Sunday, Lenoir
City Police were called to the Bojangles restaurant on
Highway 321 to investigate a burglary and theft. When LCPD
Officer Shane Tilley arrived, he said he spoke to the
opening manager and an employee who said they arrived at
work that morning and found the safe had been broken into
and money was missing.
Officer Tilley said he watched the recording from the
security cameras that showed a man enter the building just
after 11 p.m. Saturday, after the restaurant was closed. The
man was identified as Randolph, a former employee.
The recording showed the man walking to the office, opening
the safe and taking the money, which totaled $1,817.08.
Randolph was in the building for less than two minutes.
Officer Tilley served the warrants on Randolph Monday at the
Loudon County Jail, where he was already incarcerated on
previous, unrelated charges.
