Man threatens to kill young mother

A Vonore man is facing assault and theft charges after allegedly threatening to kill a woman Sept. 21.

According to a report from Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chase Lane, Ethan Dewayne Howell, 20, became irate and threw the woman down to the ground while she had her baby in her arms. The child was unharmed.

Another woman who is related to Howell and was inside the home told officers that the woman had been holding the child in the living room when she and Howell began to argue. Howell grabbed the victim by a backpack she was wearing and slung her to the ground. He then slapped her in the face.
When the woman went to get her possessions to leave, Howell grabbed a knife and said, “I will (expletive) kill you,” Lane wrote in the report.
Howell then picked up a baseball bat and acted as if he was going to hit her with it, Lane wrote in a report. The other woman told Howell to leave the woman alone. She was then able to get outside and call 911.
Howell was charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault and theft of property and held on $22,000 bond.

Man attacks with machete

A Lenoir City man was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pressing a machete to another man’s throat and threatening to kill him Sunday at a residence on Hall Street.

According to a report from LCSO Deputy Dalton Harrison, an argument started after Walsre Vidal Herrera, 26, overheard a man say he and his wife, who is related to Herrera, were going to kick him out of the residence. Herrera came out of a bedroom with a machete and began to swing it at the victim, cutting a beer car out of his hand, Harrison wrote in a report.

The two men then struggled over the machete and Herrera pinned the victim to a chair in the living room, “pressing the machete to his throat stating he was going to kill him,” according to the report. The struggle continued on the front porch of the home before 911 was called. Herrera allegedly grabbed the machete and threw it into a wooded area. The weapon was later located.
According to the report, Herrera threatened to kill a family member’s daughter when he got back if he was deported to Guatemala over the incident. A woman also had lacerations on both hands after the altercation.

Herrera was charged with aggravated assault and held without bond.
