News Herald Arrest Report

Man charged following threats with axe

A Loudon man is facing charges after threatening a neighbor and resisting arrest.

Loudon Police Officer Autumn Ingram responded Sept. 26 to a dispute between neighbors. Ingram talked with a man who said Justin Lee Hargis, 46, trespassed on his property. The man also said Hargis threatened to kill him and Hargis held up an axe inside his car. According to the arrest report from Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, a dispute between the two has been ongoing.

Another neighbor witnessed the incident and gave Ingram a written statement. Ingram met with Hargis, who said he drove down an alley when the two neighbors began cursing at him for no apparent reason.

As Ingram began to take Hargis into custody, he resisted and refused to place his hands behind his back. After repeated verbal commands, Ingram use a taser on Hargis, who complied after more verbal commands. Members of Loudon Fire Department checked Hargis before he was transported to Loudon County Jail.

Hargis was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated criminal trespass and resisting arrest and was held on $18,000 bond.
