Man arrested after assaulting officers

A Lenoir City man has been charged with multiple counts after resisting officers.

The City of Loudon Public Safety Director Mike Brubaker was on patrol Oct. 13 when he observed a male walking north on the railroad tracks. The tracks are private property. The male, later identified as Dominic MacKenzy Comer, 23, threw a rock at Brubaker’s patrol vehicle, according to the arrest report from Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.

Loudon Deputy Police Chief Samuel Harrison and Field Training Officer Brandon Nix arrived on scene. Comer was told multiple times by officers to stop walking. Comer refused and began to yell profanities to officers. Officer Nix moved to the tracks and told Comer to stop walking before grabbing him and ordering him to stop. Comer pulled away and took a stance.

Officer Nix removed his taser and gave Comer commands to get on the ground and place his hands on his head. Comer complied, and Deputy Chief Harrison handcuffed him.

As officers spoke with Comer, he spit on Deputy Chief Harrison and attempted to spit on Director Brubaker. Comer was advised he was under arrest.

Comer continued to resist by pulling away from officers as he was walked to Officer’s Nix patrol vehicle. Comer was transported to the Loudon County Jail.

Comer began to swing at Loudon County Sheriff’s Deputies when he was brought inside and his handcuffs were removed. Officers were able to make Comer dress out and inside of his waistband was a paper towel with a white substance believed to be methamphetamine.

In a separate report from LCSO, Comer attempted to put the wad of paper towel in his mouth when asked what he was hiding. Comer was restrained by corrections staff and prevented him from putting the towels in his mouth. The paper towels and suspected white substance were secured in an evidence bag. The substance was confirmed to be methamphetamine after testing.

Comer was charged with assault, contraband in penal institution, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, resisting arrest and simple assault and held without bond.
