Maggie Hunt Honored
With snow clinging to their
shoes, most Lenoir Councilmen made it to the regularly scheduled council
meeting Monday night.
The first order of business for council was a proclamation honoring assistant treasurer/recorder, Maggie Hunt. For the second time in nearly as many years, Ms. Hunt has been called on to temporarily fill the treasurer/recorder position after the elected official resigned. Mayor Tony Aikens read the proclamation aloud. In part the proclamation stated in part, "Whereas, Maggie has dedicated herself in hard work for the citizens of Lenoir City, she has served, without hesitation, as City Recorder Pro-tempore on two separate occasions." The proclamation declared Tuesday, January 11th, Maggie Hunt Day in Lenoir City. Ms. Hunt has been receiving treatment for a medical condition for several months but has continued to work even when at times she may not have felt up to it. After the reading of the proclamation and applause from the council and audience, Ms. Hunt stated that she has been glad to help but jokingly stated that she would prefer not to have to "fill in" a third time.
Whereas, Maggie Hun has worked for the City for several years;
providing employees and citizens with friendly and professional
service; and
Whereas, her genuine kindness and compassion for the community and
workplace has won the friendship from all who have had the pleasure
of working with and knowing her; and
Whereas, Maggie has dedicated herself in hard work for the citizens
of Lenoir City, she has served, without hesitation, as City Recorder
Pro-tempore on two separate occasions; and
Whereas, the Mayor and City Council recognizes outstanding citizens
and desires to officially acknowledge Mrs. Hunt's dedication to the
City.
Now, therefore be it proclaimed, by Tony R. Aikens, Mayor of Lenoir
City, Tennessee that Tuesday, January 11, 2011 be proclaimed "Maggie
Hunt Day" in Lenoir City, Tennessee.
Be it further proclaimed, that a copy of this Proclamation, signed
by the Mayor, attested by the City Recorder and bearing the great
seal of the City, be presented to Maggie Hunt.
