The driver of this destroyed Mustang, Jamie Cortes, 47, of Loudon, was treated at UT Medical Center after he swerved into the path of a dump truck on Old Loudon Road Friday evening.

Trooper Chris Best said Cortes lost control of his car, struck a guard rail then went back across the road in front of a dump truck driven by Thomas Hall, 52, of Vonore.

Cortes was released from the hospital the next day after being treated for cuts and broken ribs. However, Best said charges are pending against Cortes.
