LOUDON - The new look of Loudon police vehicles is getting attention on the streets and in the pages of national law enforcement journals. The department recently redesigned the graphics on its patrol cars and trucks.
Law and Order magazine, a Deerfield, Ill.-based journal for professional law enforcement, awarded the Loudon police department Best Ford Crown Victoria in the magazine's 2008 Police Vehicle Design Contest.
The cars and pickup trucks in the Loudon fleet feature a traditional black-and-white scheme accented across the side of the car with POLICE on black-and-red stripes. A copy of the city's official seal was added to the graphics.
Loudon police chief James "Bear" Webb said he designed the new look using some stock art and graphics. "People have said that the cars are more visible now," he said. "They've even asked me if we have more cars on the street."
