News Herald Arrest Report

Loudon man's nervous action leads to meth possession charges

A Loudon man faces drug charges after reportedly acting suspicious when he was pulled over by local officers.

Back on Feb. 8, Investigator Chance Gray with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office reportedly observed a black Ford Expedition traveling on Old Highway 95 near Adessa Parkway crossing the centerline multiple times within a short distance.

Gray then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Old Highway 95 and Adessa. As he approached the vehicle, he noticed the driver — identified as 42-yearold William Crabtree of Loudon — to be extremely nervous to the point of not being able to speak clearly or find the proper paperwork.

Fellow Investigator Clay Jenkins then began writing a citation for failure to maintain a lane. When one of the investigators returned to Crabtree’s vehicle to ask him back to their patrol vehicle for information regarding the citation, the suspect reportedly stated he was on the phone with a bonding company.

While outside the vehicle, Crabtree continued acting extremely nervous and unable to stand still. While Jenkins finished his citation, Gray then deployed a K-9 unit on the vehicle to which she alerted on the driver’s side door seam of the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, 2.0 grams of meth floating in a Red Bull can in the center console was reportedly located.

Crabtree was charged with manufactory, delivery, sale or possession of meth and released on $15,000 bond.

LENOIR CITY WOMAN CHARGED WITH PUBLIC INTOXICATION

After a women was seen in a ditch, public intoxication charges followed.

On March 26, 2024, at approximately 10:27 p.m., Deputy Brockwell with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office was dispatched to a welfare check in the area of Old Sugar Limb Road and Hubbard Road for a female sitting in a ditch.

When Brockwell arrived in the area he reportedly came in contact with 52-year-old Jennifer Reynolds of Lenoir City sitting beside a ditch on the roadway and asked if she needed help.

Reynolds stated that she was looking for her cat and couldn’t find it. Brockwell noticed that when Reynolds was speaking, she had a very slurred speech. Brockwell then asked Reynolds to stand up and walk to his car because it wasn’t safe in the middle of the road.

When she stood up, she fell straight back in the ditch and started laughing. When she started laughing, Brockwell noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. He then asked Reynolds if she had consumed any alcohol, and that’s when she stated that she was drunk.

According to the report, Brockwell then assisted Reynolds in walking to his car where she once again failed to maintain balance. He then placed Reynolds under arrest for Public Intoxication due to her being a danger to herself or others.

Reynolds was charged with public intoxication and released on $1000 bond.
