Loudon County Man gets 36 years for child rape By Jessica Stith of The Daily Times Staff A Loudon County man who raped a boy over the age of 13, sexually assaulted a 9-year-old boy and made three videos of the sexual acts with the two children was sentenced to serve 36 years in prison on Monday. Lance Eugene Davis, 42, Coyatee Circle, Loudon, was arrested by Blount County Sheriff's deputies on Dec. 29 on three counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. After further investigation, Davis was also charged with rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery. Davis, a self-employed contractor, pleaded guilty Monday to the five charges before Blount County Circuit Court Judge Mike Meares. Damon Wooten represented Davis in the case. Blount County Assistant District Attorney General Robert Headrick told the judge that if the case were to go to trial, he would call Blount County Sheriff's Office detectives and members of the HEAT (Hi-tech Evidence and Technology) Unit to testify against Davis. Headrick said the state could prove that videos were made of a 9-year-old boy and a boy who was over 13 while Davis had authoritative control over the boys. Headrick said that in one of the videos, Davis is seen raping the older boy. In the other two videos, Davis is seen engaging in sexual activities with the two boys. The description of the incidents occurring in the videos are too graphic to be published. He said all of the incidents occurred in Blount County. According to court documents, the acts occurred between Dec. 2006 and Dec. 2007. Headrick said that upon an agreement with the defense, Davis will serve 36 years in prison. He was sentenced to 12 years on the child rape charge, and must serve 85 percent of the sentence (10.2 years). He was sentenced to serve another 12 years on the aggravated sexual battery charge, and will not be eligible for parole until he serves 85 percent of the sentence. He was sentenced to serve 12 years on each of the especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor charges. Those three 12-year sentences will run concurrently with each other, but consecutively with the child rape and aggravated sexual battery charges -- giving him a total sentence of 36 years. Davis must pay all court costs and must register as a sex offender. |
