LOUDON (WATE) – A Loudon County couple pleaded guilty after being charged with tax evasion.

Christy Michelle Russell,39, and Michael Dale Russell,44, will serve probation and together pay the state of Tennessee $5,198.

The couple were indicted by a Grand Jury for tax evasion in connection to false registration for vehicles and a boat at the Loudon County Clerk’s Office.

Christy Russell will serve two years of supervised probation. Michael Russell will serve 11 months and 29 days.

“The Department of Revenue promotes voluntary taxpayer compliance by educating taxpayers, aggressively pursuing criminal sanctions and demanding accountability when taxpayers engage in fraudulent activity,” Revenue Commissioner Richard Roberts said. “This investigation underscores the Department’s ongoing efforts to enforce Tennessee’s tax laws.”
