Loudon Annexation 2

The proposed annexation of the 176 acres on Dry Valley Road was pulled from the Loudon City planning agenda last Wednesday. Apparently, there was enormous opposition from the residents in the area.

It's hard to understand why Loudon officials would even be considering this annexation. There's still plenty of undeveloped  industrial land in the city. This particular property is located in an agricultural community who doesn't want it and to rezone it would be what's called spot zoning, which is not allowed and the property is not contiguous to the current city limits as required for annexation.

I suspect we haven't heard the last of this. Residents of the area better stay on top of this one.

Why would Loudon City officials want to put the request of a Knox County developer over the wishes of local residents?
