Loudon, TVA team up to preserve Riverside Park shoreline
TVA and the city of Loudon are working together to preserve the
shoreline in Riverside Park.
After years of erosion, the shoreline has become difficult to access. TVA gave the city $15,000 for a preservation project and Loudon will match it. They hope to make the shoreline easier to access and build a floating dock, fishing piers, and sidewalks as well. Officials hope to increase boat traffic as well, especially during football season. "We're the first stop between Kingston and Knoxville for the Vol Navy, so we want them to have a place they can stop, have a pier to pull up to, stretch their legs, explore downtown Loudon," said Mark Harrell with the City of Loudon Recreation Department. The project is expected to take up to five years to complete. |
