Local woman charged with animal cruelty

A Lenoir City woman is facing animal cruelty charges after officers found dead horses on a property in June.

Dispatched to meet with animal control on Beals Chapel Road for possible animal cruelty, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chad Estes met with an animal control officer and the property owner.

“(Animal control) asked (the property owner) about some horses that were on his property,” Estes wrote in his report. “He stated they were two dead laying behind the barn and one laying in the barn on the ground. I did observe the dead horse and the one laying in the barn appeared to be (dying). There was a small white horse and a young brown horse standing in the stalls of the barn and two more horses outside in a small pin.”

Estes turned the case over to Inv. Sgt. Jeff Russell.
