News Herald Arrest Report

Local man jailed after confrontation

A Lenoir City man was arrested March 14 and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after an eventful altercation with law enforcement.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office deputy Billy Lewis responded, along with three colleagues, to a disturbance on Lakeland Drive. Deputies found Cody Roark, 29, walking in the roadway carrying a pole and threatening to “kill people for a wife.”

As the deputies arrived, Roark ran into a camper, before reiterating his threat when deputies approached him. Lewis kept speaking with Roark, at which point Roark told Lewis that he had a gun and was going to kill all the deputies present.

After several minutes of conversation, Roark exited the camper with a pole zip tied to his left arm and a skillet wrapped in cloth strapped to his chest.

Deputies cut the zip tie and took away Roark’s pole, which led him to become upset and he tried to resist arrest.

Lewis and fellow officers took Roark to the ground as they attempted to place him in handcuffs. Roark bit the hands of Lewis and a second deputy before officers gained control of Roark with a taser. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

Roark was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest and held on $11,000 bond.
