News Herald Arrest Report

Local man charged with rape of child

A Lenoir City man has been charged with rape of a child and multiple counts of sexual battery.

Lenoir City Police Officer Riley Miller responded July 11 to a residence on Church Drive and talked with several people who seemed “extremely upset.” Officers later spoke with a 22-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl who said Antonio Gonzalez, 42, had molested them for “as long as they could remember.”

The two said Gonzalez “would also take videos along with photographs while he was molesting the both of them,” Miller wrote in a report. They told investigators there is a good chance there are other victims.

A Department of Children’s Services referral was made regarding the 17-year-old.
According to a report by Lenoir City Sgt. Lynette Ladd, Gonzalez admitted to sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl beginning in April 2011. He also admitted to rape at the Church Street residence.
Gonzalez was arrested July 12 and charged with rape of a child and 20 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and held on $545,000 bond.

Traffic stop leads to drug charge

A Knoxville man is facing a drug charge after LCSO Deputy Skylar Mills conducted a traffic stop Saturday for a moving violation.

On Highway 72 North near Stonegate, Mills stopped a female driver with a passenger who was later identified as Hubert Marquet Webb, 50. While approaching the vehicle, Mills noticed Webb trying to hide something in his right front pocket.

While obtaining the driver’s information, Mills noticed a corner cut baggie in plain sight in the woman’s lap. She was asked to get out of the car.

“When I requested to get consent to search the vehicle she told me she’d rather consult with a lawyer,” Mills wrote in a report. “(The female) informed me she was also on federal probation for felony possession of a firearm. I then told her that it was her right to deny consent to search and ask for a lawyer but she was going to sit on the hood of my car and wait for a K9 to arrive on the scene due to reasonable suspicion that the corner cut baggie gives me.”

When Mills approached the vehicle again, he noticed two small baggies in plain sight in Webb’s possession. Webb denied knowing what was in the baggies. He said he also didn’t know how the baggies were beside him.

The baggies included what Mills believed was methamphetamine at a combined 1.6 grams.

Webb was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth and released on $5,000 bond.
