Robbery Suspect Makes Clean Getaway

Farragut Cleaners in Lenoir City was robbed at gunpoint Friday, according to Lenoir City Police Chief Don White. A black male entered the business and demanded money from the store armed with a dark colored pistol, he said.

This incident took place around 11:00 a.m. at the Twin Lakes Shopping Center at 454 Hwy. 321 North. The clerk complied with the suspect who also demanded the clerks wallet, White said.

The suspect instructed the clerk to go into the back bathroom of the facility and not to come out, he said. "After a few minutes had passed, the clerk stepped out of the bathroom into the front of the store where he did not get a direction of travel or see the individual again," White. said. Approximately $850 was stolen between the store and the clerk's personal cash.

This makes the fourth robbery of the year in Lenoir City, White said. Officials do not think the recent robbery is connected to the previous ones.

White said Knoxville Police Department has been contacted. "They've had two similar robberies in the past couple days," he said.
Loudon County Sheriff's Department canine units assisted in the investigation and were unable to get a track on the suspect.

The suspect was around 5' 11" and wearing a mask, White said.

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact the Lenoir City Police Department at 986-2005.
